TFG Infotec has implemented a wide range of technologies to support the IT Systems & infrastructure requirements of TFG:

Microsoft products are widely implemented throughout TFG. Current desktop operating systems employed range from Windows XP to Windows 7, while our high end infrastructure servers run Window Server and our database technologies include SQL Server 2005/2008. Other exciting technologies actively used are SQL Reporting services and BizTalk - driving our Enterprise Integration strategy. Collaboration tools include: Microsoft Office, Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft SharePoint, with the Microsoft .Net Framework underpinning our development strategy.

Oracle database technologies are largely deployed for our merchandise applications. Multiple versions of Oracle Enterprise and Standard Edition databases are deployed, ranging from Oracle 8.05 to Oracle 11G. Oracle Recovery Manager is deployed and is used to perform online backups of the Oracle database environment, interfacing with Tivoli Storage Manager (Enterprise Backup/Recovery Tool). Oracle Data Guard is used for accelerated critical data recovery in the case of hardware failure or disaster recovery. Oracle Enterprise Manager has been deployed for the monitoring and alerting of all Oracle instances in TFG.

HP provides our virtualization hardware in the data centres, and the desktop hardware at Head Office. In addition, TFG Infotec has recently appointed HP to provide all new Point of Sale hardware for our stores environment.

Multi-tiered enterprise storage utilizing over 160 Terabytes X-Series and P-Series Server Infrastructure IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) – centralized, policy-based, enterprise class, data backup and recovery software IBM Tivoli Storage Productivity Centre suite of storage infrastructure management tools. IBM AIX is the operating system for all the Oracle databases in TFG. TFG is also embarking on a virtualization roadmap in the AIX environment, making use of functionality such as micro partitioning and partition mobility that will provide high availability in the AIX space.

Cisco Systems as a leader in the Telecommunications and application delivery arena is widely used by TFG and many of its partners. The entire TFG Local area Network (LAN) as well as its WAN (provided by Telkom) is built on Cisco platforms and all expansion plans by TFG take Cisco’s product strategies into consideration. Infotec has also recently replaced the analogue PABX with a Cisco Unified Call Manager (IP based) solution.
